Employees are actively involved in teaching at Israeli higher education institutions and in supervising post-graduate theses. R&D projects are being executed today in areas such as cloud computing, Big Data analytics, cognitive computing, mobile platforms, healthcare and life sciences, verification technologies, storage, and more.
Role in the Ditas Project
In the DITAS project IBM will focus on data management, storage and security. There is a need for innovative data management strategies that are optimized for IoT data. Specifically the focus is on data that comes from the Fog of devices and can eventually be stored on the Cloud, Cloud edge and on the Fog itself. In addition IBM will study coding and data reduction problems in the IoT cloud and fog setting (e.g. develop new data formats and APIs). These data formats are initially aimed at being space efficient, but also need to be time efficient for the specific applications at hand. IBM will also work on security and develop an Auditing and Compliance distributed framework that will enable the execution of various client policies. IBM Israel brings its rich expertise in applied research in the areas of data storage and analytics. IBM has a strong track record in the areas of study, both academic and industrial, as well as with within EU funded projects.
